On July 6, 2016 we began the build-out on our new Construction and Demolition (C & D) recycling facility at 345 Lakewood Ave.in Waukegan, Illinois. When finished in the fall of 2016, our modern facility will help divert over 250 tons from the landfill DAILY! We are keeping a log of our progress, and are excited to share updates with the community at large, our customers, and construction companies looking for a way to divert demolition and excess construction materials from going to a landfill. Below are a couple excerpts:
July 20 – Our vision “To Improve Your Environment” in Northeastern Illinois and Southeastern Wisconsin is starting to come together at our new Waukegan, Illinois Recycling Facility. Our new home in Lake County, Illinois will be a state of the art construction and demolition recycling center. On July 20, Glenbrook Excavating & Concrete, Inc. started to grade our future recycling and material storage yards.
Upgrades to our electric system are nearly complete and the plumbing contractor has laid out the new interior drainage systems. The main parts of our recycling line have been ordered, and we expect the equipment to begin arriving within 14 days. Check out our video on Facebook to see our progress.
July 26 – Interior construction started today at our new Waukegan Recycling Facility. When completed, our facility will be over 45,000 square feet, including our new state of the art 18,750 Square ft recycling system. Residents and businesses from Kenosha County, Lake County, McHenry County, and Northern Cook County will be able to safely and quickly enter and exit the recycling yard. The office and front of our building are also being improved as part of the construction. These upgrades include new energy efficient windows, HVAC, and lighting to help reduce energy consumption, along with a new conference room, new employee kitchen/eating area, upgraded maintenance area, 10 new industrial garage doors, and interior storage.
In our yard, we are using recycled brick and concrete to make a solid base for our new recycled asphalt surfaces. As the only Illinois EPA licensed Construction and Demolition Recycling Facility in Lake County, we practice what we preach, and we are building our own facility using recycled material and improving overall energy efficiency.
We are getting closer to fulfilling our mission to “Improve Your Environment” in Northeast Illinois and Southern Wisconsin.
